Galerie Blu in downtown Pontiac.
A very pretty gallery space - so much so that I forgot to take a photo of their wall with glass sculptures! My apologies. If someone has a photo, please let me know. |

CCS has a new gallery building
During April many glass works are exhibited. This is just one section of the display. |

Drew Hine
Making a goblet vessel for attachment to the hand goblet... |
|
Diane Purnell Attaching Drew's vessel.
Drew bumped her arm when she was re-heating the piece, and the vessel broke against the furnace door. Drew quickly prepared a new vessel (without the twist) for application to the hand's index finger. |
|
A fish sculpture
John Rizzo doing the trim work with Drew on the glassblowing. This hot wrap stripe will be serrated to emulate the scales of a fish. |
|
Most of the fish is finished now
The body is done, the tail end is on the punti, and the mouth has a lip-wrap. Heather McElwee drips hot glass on to create the eyes. |
|
Fish Eyes
Flameworking blue cane into the center of the eye. |
|
John Rizzo (right)
His Rhinoceros vessel. Drew has gloves on to catch the piece as John breaks it from the punti. |
|
Bruce Boatman
One of the primary CCS instructors, Bruce is in the middle stages of creating a large green bowl. |
|
Herb Babcock
Herb has been trying to create a goblet which he's envisioned for many years. Dubbed 'The Spirit Goblet', it would have 3 ghostly images in the vessel and a rebirth figure encapsulated in the stem. This year's attempt ended with a crack in the vessel due to too much cooling at the other end of the goblet. |
|
A Herb Babcock casting
Most of the plaster mold has been broken away already. The edges will be trimmed and features will be ground. |

Epiphany Studio's hot-shop
The studio of Jason Ruff & April Wagner. Look at the size of the Glory Hole on the far left! To the right of that is a black batch furnace, then further right is a smaller pair. |
|
Closeup of a pretty piece
The sections that appear blue are really clear - they are refracting color from the vessel. |
|
Looking from the hot-shop into the office
The piece in the foreground is the one in the previous photo. |
|
Two pieces along the walkway
For an idea of their scale, they can be seen in the distance in the next photo. |
|
Two other pieces along the walkway
The studio is in the background. |

A corner nook
